NWEA Expands School and Student Services

ILC to Provide Responsive, Student-Centric Learning and Assessment Tools

For Immediate Release: September 27, 2011

Portland, OR - The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) has acquired the Stuart, Florida-based International Learning Corporation (ILC). NWEA will be able to better serve students and schools with an enhanced suite of assessment and learning tools, including the following ILC products:

SkillsPointer - This cloud-based application guides students through adaptive assessments in math, language usage, reading and science and uses the results to create a personalized set of tutorials and practice activities. In addition to providing immediate feedback to students, SkillsPointer also includes reporting functions for teachers and administrators.

Learning Plans on Demand - Learning Plans on Demand generates individualized learning plans complete with practice activities and assessments, presented in both English and Spanish. It also provides intervention reports and a curriculum gap analysis to support compliance with federal and state regulations. This product is also available in a feature-limited version, Rapid Resources, through a partnership with the National Education Association (NEA).

Getting Parents Involved - This program is designed to better engage parents, aides and volunteers in schools. Educators can draw from over 450 activities, which are available in English and Spanish, to create parent-friendly guides aligned to the scope and sequence of the district curriculum.

"We are excited to offer the International Learning Corporation suite of offerings to our partners," said Matt Chapman, President and CEO of NWEA. "This is a critical component in our growing Student Positioning System, a GPS for learning that gives educators the tools and information they need to fine-tune learning experiences for every child."

The acquisition was finalized on September 20, 2011, and NWEA will be making additional announcements as integration proceeds.
